How do you document real life?

Married?  What the hell are you talking about Rae?

Kit looked nervously at the long pointy blade and back down at his arm.  Was that thing really in my arm?  He looked down at his bandaged arm and shuddered.  It seems a lot longer than when I looked at it last…please, please let that be blood loss talking.

He glanced again at Rae and began to feel the familiar chill creeping up his legs, signaling the onset of invisibility.  He shuffled his coat to cover his legs, and began to inch toward the door.

“Uh, Rae?  I think it’s about that time, when I get all drunk and what not at…home.  Or something to that effect.  Oh, you know what?”  He glanced toward the angry elf.  “I think I hear my girlfriend calling me.  Sorry, I don’t think we can get married, but I’m sure you’ll find a nice guy.  Or cat, depending on where you look in this town.” He cast another sideways glance toward Olivia.

Damn.  Where the hell is my sword?  He reached into his cloak and clutched at a wooden handle.  Oh.  Yeah.  This is helpful.  He ruffled through his cloak again, dropping the wooden sword back into the cloak’s abyss.  Suddenly, he felt the touch of familiar cold steel on his fingers as he clutched the hilt.

Kit’s right hand darted out toward the elf, flicking something into the woman’s loosened bun of silvery hair.  “My card.  Sorry if that seemed a bit dramatic, but hey, that’s my profession, neh?”  Note to self: commit hara-kiri over bad slang.  Then defile grave for bad timing.  Still holding the beneath his cloak, he tossed a purse of coins at Rae and turned to the door.

“That should cover this month’s rent, the damage to the wall, and my tab for the week.  The rest is to cover them,” he nodded to Olivia and pointed toward where the sweating help had vanished, “and her, if she doesn’t level the place.” He nodded toward Spock.  “Oh, and buy yourself a drink Rae, after all,” he grinned at Rae and made a dancing gesture with his right hand, “How do you document real life?”

He walked out into the street, meeting the oncoming rain head on.

Lira watched as the man disappeared into the rain. Married? To him? The idea was absolutely absurd. And the fool woman who suggested it....There was truly no room in her heart for another.

Something clattered onto the floor. She glanced down to see her two metal fans and the strange man's card there. But her head felt too light to have just lost her fans. Reaching up, she felt a mass that reminded her peculiarly of hair. It dropped to the floor, where she stared at it, frozen in place. The edges of his calling card had been sharp enough to cut her hair in messy layers.

The bastard was as good as dead.

Forgetting about her earlier exhaustion, she drew her swords and raced out after the soon-to-be-dead man.
